Brow Lift
A brow lift targets the forehead, upper eyelid, and eyebrow areas, where sagging skin and muscle can create a tired, unhappy appearance. To correct brow furrows, the surgeon lifts underlying skin and muscle to smooth the forehead and release deep frown lines.
Brow lifts may be done alone or in combination with a facelift and eyelid surgery, among others procedures. A Classic Brow Lift involves a headband-shaped incision going from one ear to the other. The less invasive Endoscopic Brow Lift requires three to five small entry points in the scalp through which the surgeon inserts an endoscope to guide the procedure. In a Transblepharoplasty Browpexy, the surgeon accesses the brow through an upper eyelid incision. This surgery is ideal for patients who may benefit from a conservative approach. Each brow procedure requires stitches or staples, which are removed in about a week. For endoscopic brow lift, temporary anchors or fixation screws hold the elevated brow in place and are removed after two weeks.
Swelling and bruising should resolve in a week. Most patients return to work within seven to ten days of surgery. Scarring is minimal and concealed by the hairline. Brow lift patients may continue to see improvements over several months. The long term benefits of brow lift surgery last an average of fifteen years.
