OB-GYN Physicians: Nationally Known, Locally Focused
By choosing to have your baby at VCU Medical Center, you have chosen the region’s most highly regarded obstetrician-gynecologists with national and international reputations for innovation and excellence in caring for women.
As part of an academic medical center, our expert physicians are dedicated to teaching and research that continually improve the care they provide to our patients. They work closely with their colleagues in infertility and maternal-fetal medicine when those specialized services are required. They are joined by certified nurse-midwives, who specialize in non-medicated childbirth and support women looking for a natural childbirth experience.
Your complete childbirth team is on site – not just on call – 24 hours a day, every day.
That on-the-spot availability and a commitment to the latest and best practices distinguish VCU Medical Center from area hospitals. New moms know that VCU OB-GYN physicians:
- Strongly encourage a healthy vaginal delivery and perform C-sections only when medically necessary, posting the lowest C-section rate in the area.
- Routinely conduct vaginal births after a woman has had a cesarean birth, something many physicians will not consider. Ninety percent of women who have had a cesarean can successfully have a second baby vaginally.
