Our Services

Whether you’re newly diagnosed with a respiratory condition or you need extra help managing chronic lung disease, you’ll find complete care and support right here in Richmond.

Members of our pulmonary disease and critical care medicine team can diagnose and treat any respiratory infection or illness — including conditions that are rare, life-threatening or hard to treat.

Pulmonary Disease Outpatient Clinics

Patients with chronic or complex lung disease often require frequent, highly specialized care. They may also need care from several different providers.

To help streamline these services and reduce travel back-and-forth to our campus, we offer several unique specialty clinics. These clinics provide ongoing care to people with specific types of lung disease and make it easier for them to enroll in clinical trials.

Our clinics offer convenient, coordinated care for the following conditions:

We also have an interventional pulmonology program that offers minimally invasive diagnostic techniques and treatments. We use special tools and technology to see inside (or gain access to) your chest and lungs without cutting open your chest.

Other Pulmonary Diseases We Treat

We also see many patients with a broad range of lung problems outside of our specialty clinics. Our other areas of expertise include:

  • Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency
  • Atypical mycobacterium
  • Bronchitis (acute and chronic)
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • COVID-19
  • Emphysema
  • Immunological lung disease
  • Pleural effusion
  • Pleurisy
  • Pneumonia
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Pulmonary fibrosis
  • Sleep apnea
  • Tuberculosis

Pulmonary Critical Care

Our pulmonary providers are also critical care specialists. They take care of people who are hospitalized with serious illnesses and injuries and need advanced or lifesaving pulmonary care.

This includes patients who:

  • Are very sick with advanced lung disease, and need around-the-clock monitoring and treatment to get their symptoms under control
  • Have trouble breathing on their own and require mechanical support
  • Have a major illness that has affected their lung function
