Epilepsy Surgery Program

Epilepsy surgery is an option for some patients with seizure disorders, the fourth most common neurological disorder affecting people of all ages. Surgery can either remove or isolate the area of the brain where seizures originate. Some cases are open to ablation, which evaporates damaged tissue with focused heat from lasers.

Our surgeons offer treatment through the VCU Health Epilepsy Center, a Level 4 epilepsy center as designated by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. To learn more about the program, visit the VCU Health Epilepsy Center’s website.
