Committed to Reducing the Burden of Alzheimer’s Disease

Aging and dementia are in particular focus today. But when is it just aging and when is it dementia? When is it more than just absentmindedness, yet not Alzheimer’s? Memory loss and decline in thinking abilities are serious and require a medical evaluation. Our neurologists are committed to improving the lives of individuals with Alzheimer’s and related diseases through innovative research, education and compassionate care. We bring the latest scientific research advances into the clinic and community that help to reduce the burden of Alzheimer's and related diseases through early detection and effective treatments.

Patient Evaluations Lead to a Definitive Diagnosis

Before diagnosing a patient with Alzheimer’s disease, our highly-trained specialists meet with both patient and family member to discuss any symptoms, including when symptoms were first noticed. At the initial patient evaluation, medical tests may be ordered, including:

  • Brain scans (CT, MRI, or PET)
  • Complete medical history
  • Laboratory tests
  • Neurological exam
  • Neuropsychological tests

Multifaceted Team Approach to Alzheimer’s Treatment

After the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, our specialists will provide a comprehensive assessment based on patient consultations and test results. Because Alzheimer’s affects so many parts of the patient’s life, including the family, a multidisciplinary team of specialists will work together to provide a care plan. These experts include:

  • Neurologists
  • Neuropsychologists
  • Advanced Practice Nurses (dementia specialists)
  • Neuropsychometric testers
  • Clinical Trials
  • Social workers
