How We Help You

Here’s what you can expect as a VCU Health Specialty Pharmacy customer:

  • Prompt prescription processing. As soon as we receive the electronic prescription sent by your provider, we’ll gather the information we need to begin preparing your order.
  • Behind-the-scenes insurance support. Once we’ve received your insurance information, we will work with your clinic and insurance provider to perform benefits investigation and process prior authorizations if needed.
  • Financial assistance. If you still have a high prescription drug copay despite your insurance coverage — or you don’t have insurance at all — we’ll explore different options to help you get the lowest price possible. Learn more about the financial services we offer.
  • Delivery service. We’ll deliver your medications straight to your home (or your location of choice). Although we’re primarily a mail order pharmacy, we also offer in-person medication pick-up. You can come to our facility at 1030 Wilmer Ave. in Richmond, or we can coordinate the pick-up at another VCU pharmacy location. Call us at 1-877-814-3475 to discuss your options.
  • Refill reminders. We’ll call you 5-10 days before it’s time to refill your medication.
  • Ongoing education and support. Our pharmacists want you to feel comfortable with your medications. We’re here to answer any questions you have.
  • Language assistance. We offer interpreter services for patients who do not speak English.
  • Disease-specific support. We offer patients with certain medical conditions an extra level of support through our free patient management program. We’ll monitor your progress as you continue to take your medications to ensure they’re improving your symptoms and your overall health.
